How it works
Your browser downloads pdf.js once and runs it locally. It already decodes every image encoding a PDF can contain to draw pages on screen; this tool uses that same decoder to hand you the images directly instead of drawing a page.
JPEGs are copied out byte for byte, the exact original file. Everything else was stored as raw pixel data inside the PDF and is rebuilt losslessly as PNG, transparency included where the image had any.
Because the work happens on your device, there is no upload, no queue, and no server holding your images.
Questions
Are the images changed at all?
JPEGs come out exactly as embedded, byte for byte identical to the original file. Other images were stored inside the PDF as raw pixel data and are reconstructed losslessly as PNG, since that is how PDFs actually store most non-JPEG images, not a limitation of this tool.
Can this pull out vector graphics, like a logo drawn from lines and shapes?
No. Vector graphics are not images: they are instructions for drawing lines, curves, and fills, not pixel data. There is nothing to extract because there is no embedded image file behind them.
Does this turn my pages into images, like a screenshot?
No, the opposite: this pulls real embedded images out of a PDF. Turning a whole page into an image is a different job, for a separate tool coming later.
The same picture appears on every page. Why is it only shown once?
A repeated logo or letterhead is the same embedded image reused across pages, not a new one each time, so it is listed once rather than once per page.
I extracted a scanned document and only got one image per page. Is that right?
Yes. Scanned documents are usually one big image per page, the whole page as a single photograph, not lots of small images. That is exactly what this tool will show you.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Extraction happens inside your browser, using pdf.js, which your browser downloads once and runs locally. Your file never leaves your device.
Does this work offline?
Yes. Tap Use offline, or just use the tool once, and it keeps working with no connection at all. Your files never travel anywhere. With your internet switched off, you can watch that be true.
