Rotate a PDF

Turn individual pages, or the whole document, 90 degrees at a time. See real page previews first. Everything happens in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.

How it works

Your browser downloads two small toolkits and runs them locally: pdf.js draws the page previews you tap through, and pdf-lib builds the file you download.

Rotating only ever changes a page's stored rotation instruction, not its content. pdf-lib writes that instruction directly, without decoding or re-encoding anything, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution regardless of how many times a page is turned.

Because the work happens on your device, there is no upload, no queue, and no server holding your document.

Questions

Will my pages lose quality?

No. Rotating changes an instruction stored in the file, telling PDF viewers which way up to display a page, not the page content itself. Text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution, no matter how many times a page is turned.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Both the page previews and the actual rotation happen inside your browser, using pdf.js for the thumbnails and pdf-lib for the output, which your browser downloads once and runs locally. Your file never leaves your device.

Why do some PDFs arrive sideways in the first place?

Usually a scanner or scanning app set the page’s rotation the wrong way when it was created. The page content is fine, it is just the "which way up" instruction that is wrong, which is exactly what this tool fixes.

Can this straighten a crooked or wonky scan?

No. That is called deskewing, and it is a different job: it changes the pixels of the scanned image to correct a slight tilt, rather than swapping the page a clean 90 degrees at a time. This tool only ever changes the page’s rotation instruction, so it cannot fix a skewed scan.

What happens to pages I do not rotate?

They are left exactly as they were. Only pages you have actually turned are touched in the file you download.

What does "Compress this PDF first" do on the result?

It sends your rotated PDF straight to the compress tool without you having to download it and pick it again. The file is held briefly in your browser’s own storage, never sent anywhere, and is deleted the moment the compress tool loads it.

Does this work offline?

Yes. Tap Use offline, or just use the tool once, and it keeps working with no connection at all. Your files never travel anywhere. With your internet switched off, you can watch that be true.
